Shake Up Bollywood was conceived by Director Reshel Shah in 2006. Soon after Producer, Adam Neale came on board to raise the finance and bring the project together. We shot in Easter 2008 using a group of young aspiring film makers from the Bournemouth area who had a desire to create a unique fusion of Asian traditional cinema, within a westernised storyline. Its unique take on the clichéd ‘boy falls in love with girl’ plot, brings a new colour and flavour, which will get the audience bouncing along to the Bollywood theme songs.

Headed by Reshel Shah, this full of life script was filmed on location in Bournemouth where surprised onlookers saw cast dressed in full Bollywood costume singing and dancing on a freezing cold morning in March.

The story circles around Trent, a twenty something London lad working in a fruit and vegetable market stall, wearing his dignity in the form of a banana costume; Lusting after Holly, a young attractive sales girl working nearby. This fruitful tale breaks into song and dance at any opportunity.

Using a predominantly white cast we give the traditional Bollywood ‘Boy meets Girl’ tale a unique Westernised twist. Told through dance and drama by adapting the popular Indian cinematic style and combining it with modern dance techniques; with all the colour, music and visual flair that you can expect from a Bollywood production, the film will capture modern attitudes towards romance by evolving a popular Indian film genre.

Directors Comment:
The film tells a story about multi cultural Britain, revealing how cultures could integrate and survive harmoniously with one another, celebrating their individualism and the wider culture of the UK.

Shake Up Bollywood is currently going to festivals around the world.
